Clinical philosophy
A relationship that supports insight, safety, and practical change.
My approach to therapy is highly collaborative, down-to-earth, and always comes from a place of genuine care and curiosity. I do not believe that my role as a therapist is to act as the expert who simply hands you a list of instructions for how you should live. Instead, I see therapy as a unique opportunity for clients to realize their own inherent strengths and create the specific changes they envision for themselves. This process only works when it is grounded in the safety of a supportive, caring, and deeply respectful client-therapist relationship. My primary goal in our work together is to create an environment where you feel completely heard and understood, allowing you to drop the defenses you might need to carry in your daily life.
I draw from a diverse range of evidence-based modalities, including somatic experiencing, cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed practices. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to healing. Instead, I blend these approaches in ways that best support each person's unique needs, strengths, and current capacity. For example, if you are feeling overwhelmed by physical symptoms of anxiety, we might lean heavily into somatic experiencing to help regulate your nervous system before we ever try to tackle the cognitive patterns driving the worry. My background includes significant experience working with survivors of sexual assault, abuse, and traumatic brain injury, which has deeply informed my commitment to moving at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
Together, we explore what is happening beneath the surface of your current struggles. We look at the core beliefs and past experiences that are shaping your present reality, not to dwell on the past, but to build new, more empowering perspectives. I am passionate about helping clients develop practical, actionable tools for healing and growth that they can use outside of the therapy room. Whether we are working through the complex grief of a brain injury, navigating a difficult transition in your relationship, or simply trying to find more balance in your daily life, my hope is that our work helps you feel more confident, capable, and at ease. I want you to leave therapy feeling able to meet life's inevitable challenges with a renewed sense of strength, deep self-trust, and perhaps even a little lightness along the way.

What to expect
A clear process that still leaves room for you.
In our first session, our primary focus will simply be on getting to know each other and understanding exactly what brings you to counselling at this specific time in your life. We will talk about what you hope to achieve, but there is no pressure to have a perfect plan or to share everything all at once. We will work entirely at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Establishing a safe, safe environment is the most important first step, and we will not dive into deeper, more challenging work until that foundation of trust is solidly in place.
Ongoing sessions are structured to be practical and solution-focused. While I believe in giving you the space to process difficult emotions, I also believe in keeping therapy as brief and effective as possible. I do not want you to be in therapy forever; I want to equip you with the skills you need to thrive independently. We will regularly check in on your progress to ensure our approach is still working for you. You can expect me to be transparent, honest, and consistently supportive, ensuring you feel fully seen and respected throughout our entire journey together. My ultimate goal is to help you build a life that feels deeply meaningful and authentic to who you truly are.
