Privacy policy
How website information is handled.
This policy explains how personal information connected with this public website may be collected, used, protected, and accessed.
Last updated: September 1, 2026
Scope of this policy
This policy applies to information connected with your use of the Dawn Cox Counselling public website. It does not replace the privacy and informed-consent information provided directly to counselling clients regarding clinical records, confidentiality, limits to confidentiality, or the handling of personal health information in care.
Information that may be collected
This website does not contain an embedded intake or counselling form. If you choose to contact the practice by phone or email, you may voluntarily provide your name, contact details, preferred session format, scheduling information, and a brief description of what you are seeking. Please do not send detailed clinical history or other sensitive health information through ordinary email.
The website host may also process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an Internet Protocol address, browser type, device information, requested pages, date and time of access, and security or performance logs. This site does not currently publish client-account features or an online payment system.
How information is used
Information you provide is used to respond to your inquiry, discuss fit and availability, arrange a consultation where appropriate, maintain practice operations, protect the website, and meet professional or legal obligations. Personal information is not sold.
Storage and protection
Reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards are used to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. No email system, website, or electronic storage method is free from every security risk. Clinical information, if you become a client, is handled through the practice's separate clinical processes rather than through this public website.
Retention
Website inquiry information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, manage practice operations, meet professional requirements, resolve concerns, or comply with applicable law. Retention requirements for clinical records are addressed separately with clients.
British Columbia privacy context
As a private-sector organization in British Columbia, the practice considers the Personal Information Protection Act of British Columbia and other applicable professional, contractual, and legal obligations when handling personal information. This website policy is intended to provide a clear public explanation and does not limit any rights available under applicable law.
Third-party services and links
The website displays publicly available Google Reviews through an Elfsight widget and links to the practice's Google Business Profile. When the widget loads, Elfsight, Google, or their technical providers may receive limited device, browser, Internet Protocol address, and page-request information under their own privacy terms. Blocking third-party scripts in your browser may prevent the review widget from loading without affecting the rest of the website.
If you follow an external link or interact with third-party content, that provider's privacy terms and technical practices apply. Dawn Cox Counselling does not control third-party websites or platforms.
Your choices and privacy questions
You may ask what website inquiry information the practice holds about you, request a correction, withdraw consent where applicable, or raise a privacy concern. Some information may need to be retained where professional or legal obligations require it.
For privacy questions, contact Dawn Cox Counselling by email at dawn@dawncoxcounselling.ca or by phone at (250) 216-9422.
