My background

I graduated from the University of Victoria educational psychology counselling program in 2007 with a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, and I am registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). My studies and training have focused on couples (all lifestyles), trauma recovery, first responder stress injuries, multicultural counselling and the areas of self-concept and self-esteem. My training has included working with survivors of sexual assault, abuse and traumatic brain injury using in-depth client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and a somatic experiencing framework. I am also a gottman method level 2 trained couples therapist. I held a counselling position at BC Families in Transition – BCFIT (formerly the divorce and separation resource centre and now family services of greater victoria) for 4 years and a counsellor/case manager position at Lifetime Networks Victoria (LNV) for 6 years. LNV is an organization that builds safe and secure futures for those isolated and vulnerable due to disability within our community by developing and maintaining lifelong personal support networks that include family, friends and community. I held a position on the BCACC delegates counsel for 3 years and strive to continue learning and helping others educate themselves in the field of psychology.I am approved to work with eligible claimants of the Crime victims assistance program

I see therapy as an opportunity for clients to realize their own strengths and create the changes they envision for themselves through the safety of a supportive, caring and respectful client-therapist relationship. I believe in keeping therapy as brief as possible and focusing on solutions.

Therapeutic approach

My approach to therapy is collaborative, down-to-earth, and comes from a place of genuine care and curiosity. I draw from somatic experiencing, cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed practices, blending these approaches in ways that best support each person’s needs and strengths. Together, we explore what’s happening beneath the surface, build new perspectives, and develop practical tools for healing and growth. My hope is that our work helps you feel more confident, capable, and at ease—able to meet life’s challenges with a sense of strength, self-trust, and even a little lightness along the way.

I work in accordance with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) Code of Ethical Conduct and I am dedicated to ongoing professional development.

Getting started

Often, one the most difficult parts of counselling is just getting started. We all have a lot of reasons to put it off but if you are investigating your options now then you are on the way to healing already. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the counselling process and how you can get started over the phone
